Spectator chatter

A battle chat with a comment by a spectator

Spectator is a special mode, at which a player is able to access a given battle without taking an active part in the playing. Spectators do not have a tank in the battle, but can freely move their camera and observe the battle. Despite that, spectators can send chat messages, which will read "Spectator" in yellow instead of their actual username, and be visible to all players.

Originally, Spectator access was given via a special form. As of today, however, the Tanki Online team only gives this ability to owners of popular youtubers who regularly upload new Tanki-related videos.

Uses

The Spectator mode is frequently used when shooting videos, since it allows to clearly follow the outcome of the battle without seeing the spectator's tank, and since it also allows viewing the game from points unreachable by tanks. For that reason, it is also used in nearly any official contest of Tanki, which are often broadcasted live.

Another possible use of this mode is taking full images of entire maps.

Trivia

  • It is possible to simulate a spectator-like mode, where the player can separate his camera from their tank.[1]
